Kathy Funston first saw the Johnson-Hightower mansion as a first-grader accompanying her mother to a charity event in the stately home that towers over the corner of Walker Avenue and NW 16 in Heritage Hills. 

Funston recalled being “spellbound” by the home's grandeur — its marble floors and grand staircase. In the third-floor ballroom, her eyes “became the size of platters” when she saw what waited for her there: an indoor swing!

More than 50 years later, Funston, owner of Kathy Funston Design at 3515 N Classen Blvd., is among 26 interior designers who have transformed the distinctive home at 439 NW 15 into the 2016 Symphony Show House.
